Inauguration

DEDICA TO ANITA DESAI

Alessandra Orsi talks with Anita Desai

The first appointment of the Dedica festival will serve to introduce Anita Desai to the public, to familiarize them with the themes she deals with in her work, so that they will be better able to appreciate the other events on the festival programme.
Alessandra Orsi will interview Anita Desai, taking us into the world of her stories, her books, her way of feeling and perceiving the relationship between East and West.

The festival publication Dedica a Anita Desai, curated by Anna Nadotti, will be presented on this occasion, and will provide a further point of departure for an examination of Anita Desai’s work.
A series of articles will discuss some of the characteristics of her work, such as the use of the English language, her relationship with the cinema, and a comparison of her vision of India with that of other important writers. The volume also includes an unpublished work by Anita Desai, a biography, and a complete bibliography.
