Dedica for School

DEDICA FOR SCHOOL

The Dedica Festival, which is sponsored by the Province and the Municipality of Pordenone and by Coop Consumatori Nordest, once more turns its attention to the new generations: three courses, specially dedicated to students from Upper High Schools, will be organized with the aim of offering them the chance to get to know the leading figures in the world of  international literature.

WORDS ON THE STAGE
The course comprises a study of the personality of Tahar Ben Jelloun by examining his literary world, as well as a reading from some of his most important works, participation in the festival’s main events and a meeting with the author. At the same time, a writing workshop will be organized in which the participants are invited to focalize on the most important aspects or moments in the cultural experience represented by the event.

WORDS AND IMAGES FOR TAHAR BEN JELLOUN
A project whose aim is to actively involve young people, who are asked to translate the impressions they receive from reading some of the author’s work into the preferred form, whether a short essay or the creation of an image in any format – traditional artwork, computer graphics, collage, photography or painting – for the cover of a hypothetical book by Tahar Ben Jelloun.

COOP CONSUMATORI NORD EST PRIZE
As in previous years, COOP Consumatori Nord Est has instituted an award for the Upper High Schools taking part in Dedica. The prize, which will be selected by a jury as part of “Words and Images for Tahar Ben Jelloun “, will be awarded to the class which submits the best work.

SPECIAL DEDICA PRIZE
This Prize has been instituted by the Municipality of Pordenone as part of the “Europa e Giovani 2014” (Europe and Young People 2014) competition organized by IRSE – the Regional Institute for European Studies – which is open to all university students.
The author of the best essay describing the work of Tahar Ben Jelloun will receive the award.

DEDICA ON BOOKBLOG AT THE TURIN BOOK SHOW
For this year’s edition of the Festival, the organizers have begun to work with the International Book Fair. This collaboration involves the documentation of the various meetings held during the Festival in the Book Fair section assigned to BookBlog, an online newspaper created by students with the aim of providing information concerning the personalities, ideas and events featured in other major festivals in Italy. The events organized for the Dedica festival will be documented by a group of bloggers from the Liceo Grigoletti high school in Pordenone, coordinated by professor Pier Paola Busetto.
