Every year, Dedica Festival explores the work of a worldly renowned author through interviews, performances, cinema, music and exhibitions. Twenty-one years after its début, Dedica is still unique and original among the Italian book festivals.
In 2015, Dedica updates its usual formula, concentrating all events in eight intense days, during which the public will follow an itinerary of systematic reflection on Luis Sepúlveda’s writings, mindset and world.
Sepúlveda is not only a film-maker, a playwright and a worldly renowned novelist, but also the living proof (with García Márquez or Vargas Llosa, just to name a few authors from the South American circle) that literary excellency can safely go hand in hand with popularity. With his lean and incredibly intense prose and his ability to move easily from one literary genre to the other, Sepúlveda has created a narrative universe rich with humour and hope, touching themes such as travel and utopia, adventure and politics, love and war, irony and mystery, friendship and loyalty, passion and love for nature.
Dedica Festival, fostered by the Associazione Culturale Thesis of Pordenone, is sponsored by public organisations (in particular by the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region, the Municipality of Pordenone, the Province of Pordenone and the CRUP Foundation), by special partner Servizi CGN and by important business entities: Illycaffè, Coop Consumatori Nordest, Acqua Dolomia – Sorgente Valcimoliana, Finanziaria Internazionale, FriulAdria Crédit Agricole, UnipolSai Assicurazioni (Agenzia di Pordenone) and Venchiaredo.
Dedica to Luis Sepúlveda has been awarded the Medal by the President of the Republic and also enjoys the sponsorship of the Chilean Embassy in Italy.
