It all starts with a photograph taken on 29 October 1927 in Brussels at the Solvay Conference. What makes it special? It portrays 29 people, almost all of whom were physicists, 17 of whom went on to win the Nobel Prize.

Gabriella Greison uses the photo as inspiration to recount the most curious, shocking and mysterious facts and amusing anecdotes surrounding the birth of quantum physics.
