Dedica for School
Dedica continues to focus very closely on the younger generations, organizing special courses for students from secondary schools in the Province of Pordenone with the aim of giving them the opportunity of getting to know some of the important writers in the international literary scene.
WORDS ON THE STAGE
The course comprises a study of the personality of Atiq Rahimi by examining his literary world, as well as a reading from some of his most important works. During the Festival the students will have the privilege to personally meet the great author at the San Francesco former Convent on Wednesday 14 March at 15:00.
WORDS AND IMAGES FOR ATIQ RAHIMI
A project whose aim is to actively involve young people, who are asked to translate the impressions they receive from reading some of the author’s work into the preferred form, whether a short essay or the creation of an image in any format inspired to the works of Atiq Rahimi.
DEDICA ON BOOKBLOG AT THE TURIN BOOK SHOW
Also this year, Dedica co-operates with the International Book Fair in Turin. The various meetings held during the Festival will be documented in the Book Fair section assigned to the BookBlog, an online newspaper created by students with the aim of providing information concerning the personalities, ideas and events featured in other major festivals in Italy. The events organized for the Dedica festival will be documented by a group of bloggers from the Liceo Grigoletti high school in Pordenone; representative of the Project for the School is professor Flavia Coral.
DEDICA SPECIAL AWARD
This award has been established within the framework of the “Europe and its Young People 2018” competition proposed by IRSE – Istituto Regionale Studi Europei (Regional Institute for European Studies), in the section reserved to university students. Prizes will be awarded to the authors of the best essays on the works of Atiq Rahimi, following the theme of “Una Kabul che è in noi”: “The work of writer and film-maker Atiq Rahimi revolves around two themes, both linked to his native country. The first describes the folly of the war, the suffering of its powerless people, and the deterioration of the already difficult condition of the country’s women. The second discusses the author’s personal, more intimate existence. Examine and analyse some of these themes in light of your reading of his works, making reference to the films made by the author who will be the guest of honour at the 2018 Dedica Festival in Pordenone”.
DEDICA AT THE CA’ FOSCARI UNIVERSITY
Dedica continues to work with the Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, which in 2018 is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its founding. The conversation with Atiq Rahimi, titled “The power of words”, will be chaired by Marie-Christine Jamet, director of Alliance Française in Venice, with Gabrielle Gamberini.
The meeting, which will be open to students and the public, will be coordinated by Pia Masiero, the director of the Incroci di Civiltà Festival – a Dedica partner – and sponsored by the Venice University.
The meeting will be held in Ca’ Bernardo, at the Department of Comparative Language and Cultural Studies, on Tuesday, 13th March at 11:00 a.m.
