This story takes place in the city of Polkhomrí, in Afghanistan, during the years of the Soviet occupation. The scenario comprises an almost skeletal human and physical landscape; the protagonists are an elderly man and a child, sitting by the side of the road waiting for a lorry to give them a lift so they can reach Moràd, who is the son’s father and the elderly man’s son. Yassin, the grandfather, has some dramatic news for his son, and the meeting becomes an occasion to conjure up memories, regrets, conjectures and ideas.
