Inauguration of the exhibition of the works of Gianluca Buttolo:
Di storie e di matite (About stories and pencils)
at the end of “Life is the art of the meeting”
Conversation with Hisham Matar and Gianluca Buttolo
leads Claudio Cattaruzza
The meeting is often the result of fortuitous coincidences. And so it was with Hisham and Gianluca. From a chance encounter the idea was born and subsequently the construction of a story made of words and images: Il libro di Dot (The Book of Dot). A suggestive story for kids with deep meanings even for an adult audience.
Gianluca Buttolo was born in Udine in 1968, and began his career as an illustrator in 2003 after working for many years in an architectural studio. He collaborates with a number of Italian and international newspapers and periodicals, and also works as a theatrical designer.
His publications include La scelta (2015), a graphic novel which centres on the figure of attorney Giorgio Ambrosoli, Il libro di Dot (2017), a contemporary fable based on the work of author Hisham Matar, and Michelangelo. Il conflitto della Sistina (2019).
At the end of this meeting, to be held in the cloisters of the San Francesco Convent, an exhibition of the works of Gianluca Buttolo will be inaugurated: Di storie e di matite.
