A unicum that has characterized the lively panorama of Italian literary events for twenty-six years: this is the Dedica festival. Thanks to its original formula, which concentrates stage performances, conversations, cinema, music, art and books in an intense week-long programme, it allows a real immersion in the world of the protagonist author, around which each edition builds its own specific itinerary.
Dedica thus offers the public an opportunity to share a reflection on the figure of the guest chosen as a dedicatee, so that from the fulcrum of his literary production we can range on thought, on cultural contexts, on the various artistic forms that the most diverse means of expression can emerge from his work.
The 2020 edition of the festival is dedicated to Hisham Matar, a Libyan writer with a passionate and elegant writing, characterized by a poetic trait and demanding themes such as exile, loss, pain, separation, absence, the therapeutic effect of beauty. His is a calm and engaging style that excites and makes you reflect on how the art of storytelling is not only a source of charm, but also one of the safest places to find consolation.
Conceived and organized by Thesis Associazione Culturale, the Dedica project is sponsored by a number of public bodies and institutions – in particular the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region, PromoTurismoFVG (Regional Tourist Board), the Municipality of Pordenone and the Fondazione Friuli foundation – and is staged with the support of several major private organizations: the special partner Servizi CGN, Crédit Agricole FriulAdria, COOP Alleanza 3.0 and UnipolSai – AssiLab Previdenza and Servizi Pordenone.
