“Barcolana” is not only the biggest regatta in the world, it is also the place for meetings and conversations in a unique city. In this fascinating setting, Paolo Rumiz and Björn Larsson will talk about travels, the sea, books, and the experiences, evocations and striking fascinations they have come across and that ended up playing a significant role in their writings.
Björn Larsson
Professor emeritus of French literature at the University of Lund, philologist, translator and sailing enthusiast, Björn Larsson is one of the best-known Swedish writers in Italy.
His titles published by Iperborea include La vera storia del pirata Long John Silver, Il Cerchio celtico, Il porto dei sogni incrociati, La saggezza del mare, Il segreto di Inga, L’ultima avventura del pirata Long John Silver, Diario di bordo di uno scrittore, Raccontare il mare, La lettera di Gertrud and Nel nome del figlio.
He has received numerous prizes for his works, in Italy: the Premio Grinzane Biamonti, the Premio Elsa Morante, the Premio internazionale Cultura del Mare, the Premio Boccaccio Europa and the prestigious Prix Médicis in France.
Alessandro Mezzena Lona
Alessandro Mezzena Lona, journalist and blogger for “Arcane Storie”, ran the cultural pages of “Il Piccolo” for sixteen years, has worked for “Corriere della Sera” and is the author of essays on literature.
In 2013 he won the Premio Grado Giallo Mondadori prize with Non credere ai santi. He has published the novels La morte danza in salita. Ettore Schmitz e il caso Bottecchia (2014), La via oscura (2015) and written about the life and verse of Federico Tavan in Il poeta delle pantegane (2019). With Mitja Gialuz he edited the book Barcolana. Un mare di racconti (2018), which won the Premio Speciale Marincovich 2019.
His latest work is L’amore danza sull’abisso (2021).
