Radio * Zastava represent a unique formation in the variegated landscape of European bands hailing from the Balkans. There are few who like them are able to combine a rigorous knowledge of the most intricate rhythms, harmonies and melodies of Eastern Europe with a diversity of musical backgrounds ranging from rock to punk, from swing to free improvisation, from reggae to the most diverse electronic pulses.
The band started in 2005 in the multicultural city of Gorizia, and since then has held concerts all over Europe, worked with international artists of the likes of Emir Kusturica and Goran Bregovic, and recorded several albums. Their music has been chosen for several films such as the Italian comedy Easy by Andrea Magnani and the visionary Moroccan epic film Catharsys or the Afina tales of the lost world by Yassine Morroccu for which they won the prize for the best original music at the Tangiers Film Festival. Their latest recording work dates back to 2019 and is entitled Insetti.
