Theatre
(L’alcol e la nostalgia)
dramatic reading taken from the book of the same name by Mathias Énard
by and with Rosario Lisma
Alcohol and nostalgia is the story of a never-ending train journey towards Siberia, undertaken by Mathias to accompany his great friend Vladimir to his burial in the village where he was born. It was a difficult friendship, born out of rivalry over a woman, Jeanne, Mathias’ first fiancée in Paris, who then fell in love with Vladimir in Moscow. When the main character joins the girl in Russia, a passionate, self-destructive love triangle is created, which tells the tale not only of a tormented sentimental affair, but also of another strained relationship: the one between the West and Russia.
