(L’alcol e la nostalgia)
dramatic reading taken from the book of the same name by Mathias Énard
by and with Rosario Lisma
Alcohol and nostalgia is the story of a never-ending train journey towards Siberia, undertaken by Mathias to accompany his great friend Vladimir to his burial in the village where he was born. It was a difficult friendship, born out of rivalry over a woman, Jeanne, Mathias’ first fiancée in Paris, who then fell in love with Vladimir in Moscow. When the main character joins the girl in Russia, a passionate, self-destructive love triangle is created, which tells the tale not only of a tormented sentimental affair, but also of another strained relationship: the one between the West and Russia.
Actor, author and theatre, film and television director. Rosario Lisma made his début in the theatre in 1999 winning the Premio Hystrio alla Vocazione. Over the course of his professional work he has been directed by major film directors of the likes of Tonino Conte, Massimo Castri, Peter Stein, Thomas Ostermeier, Valerio Binasco, Claudio Tolcachir and others.
As author, he has directed and acted in a series of plays including Peperoni difficili, BAD and breakfast, Ore d’amore, Pescheria Giacalone and Giusto. For the cinema he was one of the leading characters in La mafia uccide solo d’estate by Pif and Smetto quando voglio by Sydney Sibilia, for television in Romanzo Siciliano, Il commissario Montalbano and 1994.
