Madrid 1868. In the streets are rumours of a plot against Isabella II, but nothing seems to bother Jaime Astarloa, a fencing master loyal to the values of the past, whose sole purpose is to perfect the art of swordsmanship to sublime levels. Astarloa is a loner and lives an immutable existence, dedicated solely to the values of swashbuckling, pride, loyalty and the elegance of the perfect strike. But when the mysterious Adela de Otero asks him to make her an accomplished swordswoman, Astarloa´s world suddenly changes: the beautiful stranger soon involves the old master in the intrigues preparing for the storm about to sweep through Spain. What is Adela really seeking in the sharpened blade of a sword?
