comments and reflections by Riccardo Costantini and Sorj Chalandon

Émile is a child of about twelve who lives with his parents in Lyons. His father André is an unstable and authoritarian man who persuades his son to be a secret agent engaged in hazardous missions against political enemies. Émile is naive and eager to please him so he takes this game seriously and gets increasingly deeply involved until he is pushed to performing worrying acts. But over time the border between imagination and reality becomes increasingly confused: the boy starts to realize that the father’s stories hide manipulation, paranoia and psychological violence.
