TALES OF THE SEA

Inauguration of the exhibition
presentation by Guido Cecere
with the participation of Angelo Corbetta and Björn Larsson

Björn Larsson’s books, travel notes, ship’s logs, nautical charts, and notebooks containing his jottings and notes are interspersed with Angelo Corbetta’s evocative photographs: for both, the sea is in their soul, the source of their inspiration and a metaphor of freedom.

Guido Cecere
was born in Bari in 1947. After studying graphic art and photography in Urbino and London, he switched to photography and communication and, as a parallel activity, fine art photography. In 1984, began to lecture in photography, first at the ISIA Institute in Urbino and later at the Schools of Fine Art of Urbino, Bologna and Venice, and currently at the ISIA Institute in Pordenone. Cecere is a member of the scientific committee of the Alinari Museum in Florence, and promotes cultural initiatives in the area of photography in collaboration with public and private galleries and with publishers in Italy and abroad. He has published numerous books and created more than sixty calendars, winning the ‘best photographic calendar’ award at the Frankfurt Book Fair. He has mounted numerous exhibitions and curated several photographic events.

Angelo Corbetta
who was born in the Veneto region but is Friulian by adoption, became interested in photography at a very young age. In 1974 he left on a five-year tour of the world, travelling on cargo ships and visiting all five continents. The material that he collected during the course of these voyages was presented in a book entitled L’infinito mare, in which the photographic images are presented together with words and verses by writers and poets. On his return, he took up a professional career as an industrial and furnishing photographer. He has mounted several personal shows and taken part in a number of collective exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.

The exhibition will remain from 12.03 to 28.04 and will be open from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
