Recital of poetry by Hans Magnus Enzensberger
produced by Peppe Servillo
with Peppe Servillo (voice) and Fausto Mesolella (guitar)
for Thesis/Dedica Festival
For me, poetry is almost a summons, a question posed without shame or remorse, one which does not produce expectations, because that’s the title of one of Hans Magnus Enzensberger’s most beautiful poems, one of those poems that feel full-voiced and concrete, which urge us to do something – resist perhaps, or watch in a distracted fashion – in order to guard ourselves and at the same time investigate events. Poems that do not assign tasks or duties, but which laugh just as we do.
Peppe Servillo
In this recital, created for Dedica, Peppe Servillo is accompanied on stage by guitarist Fausto Mesolella, who provides a light accompaniment using a variety of instruments – not only his guitar – in an attempt to render, with a delicate musical timbre, the sense of solitary adventure that each artiste perceives in this poetic tale by Hans Magnus Enzensberger.
