The unique Dedica festival has characterised the vibrant landscape of Italian literary events for thirty-two years. Due to its original formula, which condenses stage performances, conversations, music, art and books into one intense week, the event offers a true insight into the world of the featured author, around whom each edition constructs its own specific itinerary. Dedica thus offers the public the opportunity to reflect on the personality of the guest chosen as dedicatee, in order to gain insight into their thoughts, cultural contexts and the various art forms that the different means of expression are able to reveal from their literary work.
The 32nd edition of Dedica Festival will feature the French writer Sorj Chalandon.
His writing style is direct, concise and essential. Although based on real events or autobiographical ideas, it is not developed in a didactic way, but is “transfigured” into literature through the creation of fictional characters and situations that give life to powerful and compelling narratives.
The themes addressed in his books explore the complexity and dark side of the human soul, also crudely recounting injustices, violence and abuse, without neglecting to express a profound sensitivity and without giving up the hope of living a different humanity and having a chance at redemption.
Devised and curated by Thesis Associazione Culturale, the Dedica project is sponsored by public institutions and bodies – in particular by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the PromoTurismo FVG, the Municipality of Pordenone, the Fondazione Friuli foundation – and is staged with the support of important private entities and special partners: Servizi CGN, COOP Alleanza 3.0, UnipolSai – AssiLab Previdenza e Servizi Pordenone, and BCC Pordenonese e Monsile.
The 2026 edition of the festival has also obtained the Patronage of the Ministry for Culture, the Embassy of France in Italy, the Institut Français Italia in Rome, the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, and the University of Udine, through cooperation with the Department of Languages and Literature, Communications, Education and Society and the Alpen-Adria University in Klagenfurt.
The Festival is currently curated by Claudio Cattaruzza.
