INNER FURY

YOUTHS, ERRORS AND DELIVERANCE
conversation with Sorj Chalandon, don Gino Rigoldi and Francesco “Kento” Carlo
hosted by Alessandro Mezzena Lona

Sorj Chalandon’s book Fury offers the chance for a direct comparison between narration and direct experience, to reflect on the themes of justice, guilt and the possibility of redemption, especially when minors are involved. Can justice also be a space for listening, responsibility and recovery?

Don Gino Rigoldi
He was born in Milan in 1939. He is an authority on the themes of the young and the law and social inclusion. He was ordained in 1967 and for over half a century he was the chaplain of the “Cesare Beccaria” institute for underage offenders in Milan, where he worked closely with children who had been rejected by society. In 1973, he founded the association Comunità Nuova, which was dedicated to welcoming, rescuing and educating young people. Subsequently, he started the association Bambini in Romania onlus (today BIR ODV) and launched the social housing project “Abit@giovani”. In 2015, he founded Don Gino Rigoldi with the objective of giving continuity to the ideas and principles that have already guided him in his commitment to young people in difficulty and marginalized people.

Francesco “Kento” Carlo
Francesco “Kento” Carlo is a rapper and writer from Reggio Calabria, an author of albums and books that mix music, social engagement and memory. He runs writing workshops in young offenders’ prisons, schools and communities and works with academic bodies and Italian universities and also contributes regular columns and supplements on hip-hop and the language of young people to the Italian encyclopaedia Treccani. He has worked with “Il Fatto Quotidiano”, Rai Gulp and “Repubblica TV”, and is the author of the podcast “Illegale”. In 2024, he was the first artist to take part in a search and rescue mission in the central Mediterranean on board the ship Ocean Viking of SOS Méditerranée. In the last few years, in addition to music, he has started working in the theatre and cinema, where he has provided the narration for stage and screen works.
